Introduction
Did you know that the Hogwarts cloister is in Oxford? This Harry Potter tour takes you, in the company of university students, to some of the locations where the saga's films were shot.
The starting point is Broad Street. First you'll pass Balliol College, one of the oldest in the university, and walk by Blackwell's bookshop, where J. K. Rowling signed some of her first copies of Harry Potter. Close by are the Sheldonian Theatre, designed by Christopher Wren, and the Divinity School, the Hogwarts hospital wing where Harry recovers after facing Voldemort in The Philosopher's Stone.
Then you'll go into the courtyard of the Bodleian Library, one of the oldest in Europe, cross Radcliffe Square and see All Souls College and the Bridge of Sighs. The visit ends inside New College, in the cloister where Mad-Eye Moody turns Draco Malfoy into a ferret in The Goblet of Fire.
Oxford is also the last stop on the Shakespeare literary route that sets off from London.
How it works
It's a walk around Oxford's historic centre that ends at New College.
