Introduction

Hunting the Illuminati

Do you dare to step into Robert Langdon's shoes for a day? On this Angels & Demons treasure hunt you'll explore Rome on your own, solving puzzles and riddles in an app, following the plot of the Dan Brown novel that Tom Hanks also brought to the big screen.

Like Langdon, your mission is to find the clues that solve the mystery of the kidnapped cardinals and stop the Illuminati from destroying Vatican City. The game starts at Santa Maria degli Angeli and takes you on foot to 9 stops, including Castel Sant'Angelo, the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona, while you learn the history of each monument.

The game ends in St Peter's Square, after a route of about 5 kilometres.

And if you want to keep following Langdon around Italy, in Florence there's the literary route of Inferno.

How it works

About two hours of puzzles around Rome

It's a self-guided treasure hunt: there's no guide, and the clues reach your mobile through an app with an audio guide in Spanish. You can start whenever you like and, although you're asked for a date when you book, the game is activated when you log in to the app.

The stops on the route

  • Castel Sant'Angelo – Dan Brown
  • Trevi Fountain – Dan Brown
  • Piazza Navona – Dan Brown
  • Four more stops you'll discover as you follow the clues
  • St Peter's Square – end of the route
