Introduction
“To be, or not to be, that is the question”. Few lines in literature have been repeated as often as this one from Hamlet, and its author was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, a small town in the English countryside that you can visit on a day trip from London. This Shakespeare literary route takes you to his birthplace and ends in Oxford.
The trip starts in London and crosses the Cotswolds on a scenic coach drive through green hills and stone villages. Next you'll reach Warwick Castle, built by William the Conqueror, where a medieval host will show you round its rooms.
In Stratford-upon-Avon you'll visit Shakespeare's Birthplace (if you choose the option with tickets included). The last stop is Oxford, with a guided walk through its streets: the Bodleian Library, the Bridge of Sighs and the University Church of St Mary the Virgin.
And to come back to Oxford at a more leisurely pace, there's also the Harry Potter literary route in Oxford.
How it works
It's a full-day trip by coach or minibus, leaving from and returning to London. When you book you can choose from three options: with tickets to Shakespeare's house and Warwick Castle, with the castle ticket only (in Stratford you'll have free time, without going into the house) or without tickets. The order of the visits may change.
