Introduction

Lucy and Aslan's rocks

Remember Lucy Pevensie and Aslan high up on some giant rocks in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe? Those rocks are real, and they're in Adršpach, on the border between Poland and the Czech Republic. This Chronicles of Narnia literary route takes you there from Wrocław to explore the setting of the first film in C. S. Lewis's saga.

The trip sets off from outside the Nowe Horyzonty cinema in Wrocław and crosses the border to Adršpach Rock Town. There you'll walk through a maze of gorges with formations such as the Lovers, the Mayor and the Mayoress, the Sugarloaf or Krakonoš's Tooth.

At the end of the walk you'll reach the waterfall that captivated Johann Wolfgang von Goethe when he visited Adršpach in 1790. Afterwards you'll have free time to keep exploring and have lunch before heading back to Wrocław.

How it works

Eight hours between Poland and the Czech Republic

It's a full-day trip by minibus, leaving from and returning to Wrocław. The walk through the rocks is 3.5 kilometres, with several flights of steps and a very narrow passage (about 50 centimetres wide) on the last stretch. If you prefer, you can do just the part of the path without steps or narrow passages.
