Don Quixote literary route through Ciudad Real

“In a village of La Mancha…”. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to explore that La Mancha with Don Quixote as your guide? On this Don Quixote tour of Ciudad Real you'll follow in the footsteps of the illustrious hidalgo and his faithful squire, Sancho Panza.

The tour begins at the Don Quixote Museum, and admission is included in the activity. Inside you'll see the machinery of a windmill and a printing press from the period, and enjoy audiovisual effects based on the novel. Then, in Plaza del Pilar, the guide will tell you anecdotes and curious facts about the book and how Cervantes immortalised the city.

In the Plaza Mayor the Ciudad Real carillon awaits you, a mechanical clock with figures of Don Quixote and Sancho that move in time to its music. And, as you'd expect, the tour ends with a local wine and a Quixote-inspired tapa. Time for a toast!
