Introduction
Did you know that Trujillo appears in Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon? This route takes you on foot to the locations of both series in this Extremaduran town, and uncovers the historical and mythological origins of many of their elements.
The starting point is the Plaza Mayor, which features in House of the Dragon. Next to the equestrian statue of Francisco Pizarro you'll discover the origin and symbolism of the dragon, the most important mythological creature in the saga, and then you'll climb up to Trujillo Castle, a location in the seventh season of Game of Thrones, on whose battlements Jaime Lannister appears.
In Plaza de Santiago you'll discover the prophecy that brought an end to a military-religious order and its echo in the fall of an ancient empire in the series. Then, through the streets of the old town, you'll reach the Monastery of San Francisco el Real de la Coria, where witchcraft paves the way to revealing the origin of Melisandre's powers. At La Alberca you'll learn where wildfire comes from, and in front of the Orellana Pizarro Palace you'll relive the Red Wedding. The route ends back in the Plaza Mayor, with curious facts about the medieval markets that appear in both series.
