Introduction

A city made for novels and films

The streets of San Sebastián have inspired novels such as Homeland and served as a film set for directors like Woody Allen. On this literature and film tour of San Sebastián you'll visit the settings of several of those stories.

It couldn't start anywhere other than a bookshop: Librería Donosti. From there you'll visit some of the places that have inspired stories such as Homeland, La Brecha and La jaula de sal, through the pedestrian streets of the Ensanche and Plaza Gipuzkoa.

You'll also pass the venues of the San Sebastián Film Festival, such as the Hotel María Cristina and the Kursaal Auditorium, and the spots where Woody Allen shot Rifkin's Festival. Then you'll walk past the Mercado de la Brecha, the remains of the city wall and the Parte Vieja, with its historic shops, and along the coast, with views of Santa Clara Island and Mount Urgull. The tour ends in Plaza de la Constitución.
